This blog is my travels, my thoughts, and my world, in pictures. I am an up and coming photographer out of Houston and finding my footing in the photography world. The journey is long and I’m loving every step of it!
The field of Photography is so vast, there is ALWAYS something new to learn from gear, to technique, to location, lighting, the list goes on, and on. That title of “Professional” will be a fun, yet an extremely challenging goal to attain.
I have always loved photography and I’ve always loved to write so this blog is my perfect combo. The old adage is, “A picture is worth a thousand words”, this is true, but if you are anything like me, you want that little bit behind what the photographer’s thoughts were at the time the shot was taken. That “little extra” is what I want this site to accomplish. This site will also chronicle my time learning everything as I go along. From blindly taking pictures from a moving car, to Photography School, to learning Lightroom and Photoshop, Marketing, to hopefully running a successful Photography business. I hope that through this blog, maybe I can ease someone else’s fears no matter what road they decide to take in life. Because, when diving head first into anything new, it can be a lonely and extremely scary road to walk alone.
I have lived all over the United States from North Carolina, to California, and from Illinois, to finally resting here in Houston, Texas. What started as a vacation to the Houston area turned out to be the best move we have ever made. My tires hit the pavement and I knew I was “home”. When your soul is at peace everything in life becomes clearer and less confusing, so that alone, I know will help when conveying what I need to say.
I am not “PC” by any means, this is real life, real thoughts, real experiences, and real photos. All photos were taken by myself, all are originals, and I will always set out to use as minimal editing as possible. I feel that, too much editing takes away from the photo and also from the photographer’s skills. If I ever use a picture from another photographer, I will ALWAYS make several attempts to contact the photographer to ask permission, and/or give credit and links to that photographer’s website or work. As I would hope someone would do the same for me.
So if you have questions, comments, or constructive criticism, by all means feel free to contact me and let me know, in the contact section.
