Here is my second attempt at utilizing natural light. My first attempt can be found in my Tortellini soup post. Both shoots came out great and other than a few things here and there, that will improve with experience and time, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

Natural lighting should be a common-sense thing in photography but any lighting situation, whether natural or artificial, in photography, is a tricky situation. There are so many things to factor in for the desired outcome that a time-lapse of less than 5 minutes can literally make or break an entire shoot.

Honestly, there is nothing special about these cookies, in fact, they’re frozen. YES! (Collective gasp) They are regular Pillsbury frozen chocolate chip cookies, you find in the refrigerated section at your local grocery store. I decided to do a quick shoot while I had the opportunity, and wasn’t about to sit and bake cookies all afternoon. I’m super busy, don’t judge me. LOL!

There were a few challenges because milk does not photography or edit well at all, but overall it was pretty cut and dry. These were taken in my kitchen, which, has the best natural lighting in a kitchen I have ever seen. I have an entire wall of windows that face west so I consider myself extremely lucky.

These are some of my favorite dessert pictures I’ve done. I am planning on printing these out and hanging in my kitchen. The simplicity of them is “homey,” and the matte finish is what I love about them.
